| TCHAIKOVSKY: 1812
Overture. Marche slave. Capriccio Italien, Cossack Dance, Polonaise,
Coronation March. Cincinnati Pops Orch/Erich Kunzel, cond. TELARC SACD 60541 TT: 60:23 (5.1 channel) For comments on this, see the REVIEW which comments on minuses - and pluses - of this remake of a Telarc past success. The DVDA version perhaps has a bit more impact, but I imagine most listeners would be equally content with this SACD multi-channel version. |
BERLIOZ: Symphonie
fantastique, Op. 14. Love Scene from Romeo and Juliet. Cincinnati Symphony Orch/Paavo Jãrvi, cond. TELARC SACD 60578 TT: 70:21 (5.1 channel) R.D. thought quite highly of this recording when issued on CD (REVIEW). No question that the multi-channel sound is superior - there is a fullness - and hall sound - to be heard here, thanks to the extra channels. This is among the most successful TELARC classical multi-channel CDs. |
