Here are five new multiple-disk sets from RCA Red Seal gathering together many important major recordings of the past all in 24 bit remastered versions that sound better than ever. Some of these previously were issued in deluxe editions that cost as much as one of these new boxed sets. Charles Munch is featured on two of these in classic symphonies as well as collaborations with Eileen Farrell, Maureen Forrester, Gregor Piatigorsky, Henryk Szeryng and Arthur Rubinstein. The latter has his own set of Brahms recordings, Concerto No. 1 with Reiner and the Chicago Symphony, Concerto No. 2 with the RCA Orchestra directed by Josef Krips recorded in 1954—but you can hear his 1951 recording which is included in a Munch set. And how convient to have Rubinstein's Brahms chamber music recordings with illustrious collaborators: Jascha Heifetz, Gregor Piatigorsky, Henryk Szeryng, Pierre Fournier and the Guarneri String Quartet. Equally convenient is to have all of Günter Wand's Bruckner recordings in one set. And then we have Jascha Heifetz, seventeen famous recordings of concertos and other works including all recordings made with the orchestras of Chicago and Boston. And all of these boxed sets are at budget price—incredible value, and a chance to hear these famous recordings in optimal sound. Let us hope there will be many more issues in this welcome series! Keep 'em coming, RCA!
