JASCHA HEIFETZ - THE COMPLETE STEREO COLLECTION
This box contains all of the stereo recordings made for RCA by the legendary violinist Jascha Heifetz Each of the 24 CDs is in its own jacket with the cover illustration of original releases. It features his Chicago recordings of concertos of Brahms and Tchaikovsky and Boston recordings of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and and Prokofiev No. 2. Also we have concerted works of Rózsa, Bruch, Bach, Mozart, Vieuxtemps, Benjamin, and Glazunov. The rest is devoted to a wide range of chamber music in which Heifetz us joined by many superb artists of the tune including Gregor Piatigorsky, William Primrose and Leonard Pennario. Many of these are live recordings. Audio is excellent throughout, particularly impressive in the Chicago Brahms and Tchaikovsky. All of the disks are in a compact box that also includes an 80-page booklet with photos and track information. This is an essential release for collectors, and reasonably priced. Heifetz recorded profusely during his long career, and many of his finest recordings are ore-stereo In particular, concertos of Elgar, Walton and Korngold—you'll have to look elsewhere for those treasures.
